What’s up
Most people stumble onto this site looking for Tahoe travel advice, simple science, or a good story. I’m here for all three.
I’m Cary — a longtime Bay and Tahoe mariner, tour director, and dad who spends more time on the water than in traffic.
I didn’t grow up dreaming about hosting a podcast or building a travel guide site.
I grew up chasing the water.
Where I’ve come from
Born in Stockton and raised throughout the western US, I’ve lived in more places than I’ve kept track of — but the water has always been home.
Beginning at the early days of dad’s old fishing boat, and working my up from deckhand, to first officer, to captain on 20+ vessels. I’ve worked in radio, event production, marketing, product development, real estate, and tourism. But, I always return to maritime.
Today, I captain boats for Tahoe Cruises out of Ski Run Marina, spending my days creating damn nice experiences for people from all over the world.
